One-night Bush Camping Experience
Do you enjoy real bush camping? Would you like to experience a bush camp with a touch of luxury?
At Bua River Lodge we can now offer an overnight camping experience, beside the Bua River in the heart of the reserve, but without the hassle usually associated with camping! All you need to bring is your sleeping bag (and we can provide you with sheets and a blanket if you don't have one).
Arrive at Bua River Lodge late morning and enjoy a delicious salad and cheese lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, accompanied by our guide and a game scout, take an easy two-hour walk through the forest to Nyankhoma Pool. When you arrive, your tents will already be pitched with mattresses and pillows, chairs set up and a range of cold drinks made ready for you to sip as you watch the sun set. While you enjoy your drink and a warm (yes, warm) shower, we will prepare a three-course dinner for you. You will fall asleep to the sounds of the African bush at night.
When you waken in the morning, coffee and tea will already be prepared and soon after we will invite you to enjoy a cooked breakfast in the cool of the early morning. After breakfast, you set off back to the lodge, following the south bank of the beautiful Bua River, arriving in time for lunch before you depart.
This exciting experience will cost just $60 per head, excluding drinks and park entry fees. If you would like to spend another night at Bua River Lodge, the cost will be $170 for an Island room, $135 for a Riverside room and $110 for a Hillside room.
You can also enjoy our bush camping experience unsupported apart from our guide and the game scout, at a cost of $20 per head.
Romantic Honeymoon on The Bua River
If you are searching for total seclusion combined with a high level of luxury for your honeymoon, then Bua River Lodge could be what you are looking for. Our Island double room – our Honeymoon Suite - is a bright, airy and extensive safari tent, with large open-air bathroom to the rear, wide deck, shaded by riverine forest trees to the front, unrivalled views of the Bua River and, the piece-de-resistance, its own private dining deck on an island in the river!
And you are over 100 metres from your nearest (human) neighbour – although the monkeys and baboons may not be so respectful of your privacy! The room is not on any pathways to any other room.
Our policy at Bua River Lodge is to give our guests as much (or as little) attention as they require. You will not be disturbed.
Our honeymoon special includes:
• Three nights’ accommodation for two people, in the Island double room with queen-sized bed, down pillows and a high-density mattress;
• All meals – full English breakfast, light salad-based lunch, three-course dinner, and an extra lunch on the day of departure, coffee and tea - all served, if you wish, on your private island;
• Two complementary bottles of wine or one bottle of champagne during your stay;
• All soft drinks and beers;
• Private, guided wilderness walks (just you, the guide, the game scout, TV cameraman, sound recordist, producer ….. just joking!);
• Your personal room attendant on call by walkie-talkie;
• All park fees and government taxes.
As an indication of how romantic this location is, four of our guests have become engaged to be married while staying in this room!
To enjoy your honeymoon in the wilderness costs just $850.
